January 2026 | Luton, UK – The Over 50s Black Men Forum (O5BM) is proud to confirm that we have pledged to Luton 2040, the town-wide partnership working towards a healthier, fairer and more sustainable Luton, where everyone can thrive and no one has to live in poverty.

For O5BM, this pledge is not a new direction but a clear public commitment to what our members and volunteers have been building: consistent spaces where men can be active, supported, listened to, and connected.

Why this pledge matters

Luton faces challenges that affect physical health, mental wellbeing and community connection. Too often, men carry stress silently, become isolated, and stop taking part in regular activity, and the impact can be felt in families, friendships and communities.

O5BM exists to help change that story, one conversation and one session at a time. By aligning with Luton 2040, we are joining hands with partners across the town to make measurable progress towards shared outcomes.

Our commitment in Luton

As part of our pledge, O5BM is committing to practical action that supports Luton 2040 priorities, including improving wellbeing, reducing isolation and strengthening community resilience.

This includes a continued focus on:

  • Healthy lifestyles: regular, welcoming physical activity that supports strength, mobility and confidence.
  • Community connection: a space to belong, build friendships and keep coming back.
  • Resilience and wellbeing: supportive conversations, encouragement, and signposting when needed.

What you can expect when you attend

O5BM sessions are built around three simple values: respect, consistency and encouragement. You don’t need to be “fit” to start — you just need to start.

Expect:

  • A welcoming environment for older black men
  • Positive peer support and community connection
  • Activity that supports physical and mental wellbeing
  • A space to talk, laugh, learn and reset
  • Signposting to relevant support where appropriate

Working with partners across Luton

We want this pledge to open doors to deeper collaboration across Luton. If you are a community group, NHS service, faith organisation, charity, employer or local business looking to support wellbeing and reduce inequalities, we would love to explore partnership opportunities that align with Luton 2040.

Thank you to our members

This pledge reflects the commitment of our members and volunteers who keep showing up, encouraging one another and proving that community changes lives. If you’ve been meaning to come along, take this as your sign — there’s a seat for you.
