The Over 50s Black Men Forum (O5BM) is proud to announce that we have been awarded a grant from the AHPN under their Black and Global Majority Innovate and Sustain Fund.

This vital funding will support our Continued Mental Health Support and Engagement Project targeting older Black men living in Essex. Through interactive tailored sessions, led by qualified Black medical professionals with lived-in experience, we aim to:

  • Improve understanding of mental health issues,
  • Equip participants with practical coping strategies, and
  • Challenge the stigma that still surrounds mental health in our communities.

This grant recognises the urgent need to tackle the deep-rooted structural inequalities that affect Black men over 50 — a demographic too often overlooked. With this support, we can expand our work to reduce health inequalities, social isolation, and economic marginalisation among our community.

We thank AHPN for their confidence in our work and for standing with us to create a healthier, more inclusive future for older Black men in the UK.

Together, we’re improving health and wellbeing.
